Is blogging dead? Long live the blog!

I still read a lot of blogs, but many of my old favourites have gone dark, and I'd like to make some new connections. And I would love to hear from you, if you're still checking in here - who else do you read? People who make things? People who collate other interesting things? People who just write damn well? Bring on the recommendations.

I agree, I love reading blogs but so many people have stopped blogging. I don't do Facebook or Google+ or Twitter or whatever. I like getting to know the blogger and their pears!! and reading about what they like to do. I am not very adventurous, it used to be easy to find new blogs to read but I seem to have lost the knack!!

I think a lot of craft bloggers have given it up in favor of posting on ravelry. This is unfortunate since you don't get a feeling for who they are and what they do. Some of my favorite bloggers have stopped or blog so infrequently that they might as well have stopped.

I don't read many craft blogs because they are not so much my thing. But here are some I love from a range of walks of live. Most I think I are well written and easy to read.
http://eatatdixiebelles.blogspot.com.au (A canberra blog)
http://littlebluewrenphotography.blogspot.com.au (Beautiful photography, but new)
http://www.littleecofootprints.com (Australian writing about their eco life changes)
http://hotlyspiced.com (Very funny food/family blog from sydney)
http://www.storybookperfect.com (Odd one the writer writes about writing, but can be interesting)

I have noticed the same thing too. I'm not really picking up new blogs though, mostly from a time perspective. It's hard enough trying to keep up the posting on my own, sadly.

well you know my thoughts, or some of them, on this. The love/dislike relationship I have with blogging in the last while. Jury is still on out on its place in my life so I continue on, sporadically, until I've figured it out.

Unsurprisingly I've picked up chicken blogs lately (only what I think are really good ones though!), sewing blogs and more general ones that seem to fit my mood. Hardly any new crafty ones to speak of.

I follow food, gardening, sewing and quilting blogs. And general crafters of course. I have imposed a restriction on the time I spend on the computer, as life's really too short so if a blog is badly written, or if it feels dishonest (your children can not be THAT perfect!) they get dropped quickly, no matter how pretty their quilt is or quickly their garden grows.

There are a few blogs on my reader you might be interested in. My New Roots; Joy the Baker; and Sarah Wilson (although I find her a tad annoying at times). Also Oonabaloona if not just for the fact she's freaking hilarious as well as a good sewer.

Coincidentally, another blogger asked the same question this week.

Here's a link to her post - she has some interesting suggestions in the comments.
