It finally happened

I successfully followed a set of crochet instructions!

Til now I've really only managed basic crochet in straight lines or around in a circle. The few times I've tried something more complex I gave up in frustration.

Now I need to stop trying to get a good photo of this one little flower, and make the rest.

I felt that way when I turned the heel on a crocheted sock! The instructions always seem so confusing so I read them out loud to myself and take it one small step at a time.

The flowers are so cute! I'm trying for hearts today (had no time yesterday).

Crochet instructions baffle me. My mom taught me how but she never told me the name of what I was doing, so when I look at a crochet pattern it's like looking at another language. It was easier to teach myself knitting and how to read a pattern at the same time. I feel like I know just enough crochet to be confused at starting over!

Lovely flower, by the way. I really do want to figure out my crochet pattern block, too!

oh well done Olivia - as I know from teaching beginners crochet classes, there are a lot of people out there who cannot for the life of them follow crochet directions [ which is why they end up at class]
